We must not end up in a place where companies are continuing to scapegoat responsibility for the safety of young people. A blanket ban does not change the fact that algorithms are continuing to deliver harmful content to social media users.
It is so important that we look at the online sphere as an experience and not just through the lens of certain apps. Encrypted messaging apps and gaming services can be just as dangerous as Instagram and Snapchat.

When I was Deputy Leader of the Council, I worked incredibly hard to reduce the number of those facing homelessness in our city and support those who were not yet in a place to accept help.
It was great to be able to hear perspectives ranging from the Council to charities on what steps need to be taken to tackle rough sleeping in our city – we must ensure that services are working in collaboration with one another.

Hosting a homelessness summit to bring together the Council, my office and various organisations and charities across Milton Keynes to discuss what needs to be done to ensure that no one ever must sleep rough in MK. 🏠
Joining Beat, the UK’s leading Eating Disorder Charity, in Parliament to discuss their new casework scheme which will allow MPs offices to better support those with eating disorders. ❤️🩹
Visiting the new Universal Studios site in Bedfordshire – being just outside of MK, it will have a great impact on our city including job opportunities in building and running the site for students at MK College. 🌍
Marking the beginning of Pride Month (photo from last year), I’m really looking forward to seeing how MK celebrates this month throughout the city! Everyone deserves to live authentically. 🌈
