I’m pleased to share my recent article in Milton Keynes Citizen. As your MP, and someone who has personally experienced miscarriage, I wholeheartedly welcome the Government’s plans to extend bereavement leave to individuals who suffer a miscarriage at any stage of pregnancy.
Currently, bereavement leave is only granted for the death of a child under 18 or for stillbirths after 24 weeks. The proposed changes in the Employment Rights Bill, expected to become law soon, will help remove the stigma around miscarriage, encourage open conversations, and provide families the time and space to grieve without the added pressure of work.
This is a vital step in recognising the emotional impact of pregnancy loss and providing much needed support for families during a difficult time.
If you or someone you know has been affected by miscarriage, please know you are not alone – and support is available. You can read the full article here.
