I am delighted to celebrate the unveiling of Walk With Your Dreams, the vibrant new public artwork by British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori MBE, at Milton Keynes Station Square. Now, when you step off the train into Station Square, you don’t just enter a transit hub – you are greeted by a vivid welcome. It’s an introduction to our city’s character: bold, diverse, creative, and forward-looking.
The launch event was fittingly celebratory – an afternoon of music, poetry, dance, and visual arts attended by our Mayor, James Lancaster, Councillor Shanika Mahendran, local residents and guests.
The planting around the artwork – chosen for beauty, biodiversity, and sustainability – reinforces our commitment to greening and enriching public spaces.
Walk With Your Dreams sends a bold message: this is a city that champions diversity, nurtures creative expression, and believes in innovation grounded in community. For many, it will be their first impression of Milton Keynes – and it is a welcome that truly reflects our city’s identity.
I am confident this installation will become a beloved landmark – one that speaks not just to what Milton Keynes is today, but to what we aspire to be.
