I’m so glad to announce that my campaign has worked, and the £318 fee that survivors of domestic abuse needed to pay to keep their address secret when applying for financial help has been scrapped.
For far too long those who had already suffered harm were asked to pay a significant amount on top of everything else – just so they could protect themselves. The message this change sends is clear: survivors shouldn’t have to pay to be safe.
This is the kind of real-life change that a government committed to tackling domestic abuse in all its forms can make.
