Milton Keynes City Council Secures New Funding for Families

I’m delighted to share that Milton Keynes City Council will receive additional government funding this year to help prepare for the launch of the new Best Start Family Service in 2026.

As the MP for Milton Keynes Central, I’ve seen first hand the difference our family centres make. Whether it’s a mum seeking advice on breastfeeding, a dad looking for support to get back into work, or a family struggling with the cost of living – our family centres are a lifeline for many.

This funding is part of a nationwide expansion of Best Start Family Hubs, which will support half a million more children by bringing services like early years education, health visitors, and parenting advice under one roof – focusing on those who need it most, such as babies, children and families from lower-income backgrounds or with additional vulnerabilities.

Thanks to our Labour-run council, MK has protected 10 popular family centres despite financial pressures. With this new investment, we’ll be able to support even more families and help every child in our city get the very best start in life.

I’m proud to be part of a Labour team in Milton Keynes that believes in this mission. From councillors to MPs, we’re united in our commitment to giving every child the support and opportunities they deserve from day one.

If you’re a parent, carer, or simply someone who wants to know more about the Best Start hubs and the support available, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with my office or your local family centre.
